Kimberly Whiteford, MA, LMFT

Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist #LMFT-123600

I have over 25 years of experience as a mental health professional, treating various conditions and concerns including anxiety, depression, relationship issues, addiction, abuse, and much more. I offer a nurturing and supportive counseling approach, and will do everything I can to support you in finding tools and solutions for the challenges you face. With compassion and a dependence on the Lord’s wisdom, I will listen to your story and use my decades of experience to craft a treatment plan that will meet your unique needs. I look forward to seeing how the Lord uses your counseling experience to help you heal and grow as an individual and restore any broken or damaged relationships in your life.

San Diego – Tue, Wed, Fri & Sat

I have years of experience working with teens, adult men and women, premarital and married couples, families, and groups facing a wide variety of issues. I have also counseled many women who have previously been in abusive situations and are now working toward having and maintaining healthy connections with others. No matter what challenge you may be facing, I would be honored to walk with you in your counseling journey as we find practical ways for you to experience health in every aspect of your life – physically, emotionally, mentally, relationally, and spiritually.

My Goal as a Christian Counselor

My goal is for you to gain healing, hope, and healthy coping skills that will help you deal with life in the best way possible. I am passionate about helping my clients realize any distortions in their thinking and beliefs about self, and move on toward telling themselves the truth. By telling ourselves the truth, we are able to work without false beliefs that hinder our healing and success. I also find great joy helping clients work toward God-honoring relationships.

What I Offer in Christian Counseling

I will come alongside in a very supportive and nurturing way, offering you a safe space to process. I am quite personable and will treat you with a caring attitude and a great deal of respect. I am very process-oriented, because I believe that internalized anger and depression are harmful to individuals. It’s important to me that you feel able to trust me as your therapist so you are free to talk about your thoughts and feelings. This will help you sort out your feelings and thoughts, express them, and come to good decisions.

My Approach to Christian Counseling

I believe that having a distinctly Christian approach to counseling gives hope and determines some of the basic values and ideologies that are vital to the healing of Christian clients. Scripture is helpful to people for healing, hope, and direction in how to live and has an important impact on our decisions in life.
